Questions

How is this different from Grammarly?

Grammarly checks how you write: spelling, grammar, tone. The Whetstone checks whether the argument holds: named fallacies, unstated assumptions, terms doing hidden work. It audits reasoning, not prose.

Do you train models on my drafts?

No. Your drafts are audited and stored for your own version history; they are not used to train any model. The audit runs through Google’s Gemini API to produce your result and nothing more.

What happens to my documents if I cancel?

They stay in your account. Cancelling stops the Studio-only engines; your saved drafts, versions, and past audits remain readable, and the free Reader keeps working.

Is it always right?

No, and it does not pretend to be. Findings carry a groundedness label (Logic, Judgment call, or Factual) so you can see which are structural and which are a reading you might reasonably reject. It surfaces questions, not verdicts.

Will it work on my Substack or blog?

Yes. Paste any text or drop a public URL at the Audit. The free Chrome extension audits any page you are reading in place.

Can I use it for academic writing?

Yes. The audit calibrates to your audience (general, academic, journalistic, legal, technical), and Studio adds citation checking and evidence-weighted likelihood for source-heavy work.

What is your refund policy?

Cancel anytime and you keep access through the period you paid for. If something went wrong, email hello@thewhetstone.review and we will make it right.

How often are briefings published?

The publication is early. New briefings are added as they are written and sourced. Every quote is verified verbatim against its source before it ships.
